About the project

Nowadays, children’s unhealthy eating habits, lack of physical exercise and sedentarism are a severe issue which has recently arisen, especially due to the time they spend indoors using Information and Communication Technology. This problem has become increasingly worrying because parents lack time to provide children with healthy homecooked meals, thus augmenting obesity cases among teenagers. Besides causing a wide range of physical and mental health problems, being overweight drastically increases the risk of developing obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, among others. With this project, students and parents are being addressed to raise their awareness concerning obesity and sedentarism problems.

We intend to foster healthy living and sports amongst students by helping them to work collaboratively irrespective of their appearance, diminishing discrimination attitudes targeted at overweight and/or obese children. Students will communicate with each other and share their ideas with European partners, raising their awareness of different aspects of other European countries: customs, traditions, gastronomy, etc. Students will also be involved in the activities proposed by their peers in other countries to have first-hand experiences with their partners’ lifestyles.

Target group

  • Students 9-14 years old
  • Parents
  • Teachers

The main objectives:

  • To reduce by at least 50% the number of fast food consumers in our target group after the two years of the project implementation;
  • To raise and increase the awareness about healthy eating advantages of at least 70% of the participants;
  • To increase the students’ target group physical activity to a minimum of 1 hour per day (60%);
  • To improve communication and interpersonal skills and self-confidence in a transnational European environment of at least 65% of participants;
  • To share ideas and best practices with all the project schools so that teachers will be able to produce one brochure for students and parents and one booklet for schools;
  • To work out and expand the knowledge on the wide range of European sports and cultural diversity. Thus, we intend to foster healthy living and sports amongst students by helping them to work collaboratively irrespective of their appearance, diminishing discrimination attitudes targeted at overweight and/or obese children. Students will communicate with each other and share their ideas with European partners, raising their awareness of different aspects of other European countries: customs, traditions, gastronomy, etc. Students will also be involved in the activities proposed by their peers in other countries to have first-hand experiences with their partners’ lifestyles.
